Geology & Metallogeny

As part of mining research and the exploitation of useful substances, the primary focus of GEOPROJET is on the creation of geological maps, stratigraphic surveys, and geological cross-sections from well-detailed logs. The survey of mining indicators and interpreted data from geophysics and geochemistry are also included. All of this is integrated into a database managed by a DBMS in a GIS environment. The studies conducted are focused on:

  • Geology, Geology of Ores
  • Mapping (geology, risk)
  • Resource estimation and reserve calculation
  • Geostatistical analysis and deposit modeling
  • Geochemical and metallogenic studies
  • Chemical analyses and treatment testing
  • Proposals for extraction techniques
  • Modeling and interpretation of data.

GEOPROJET has developed cutting-edge expertise and advanced techniques for the discovery of metallic ore deposits and precious metals under complex conditions. The achievements recorded in recent years underscore the dedication and professionalism of the bureau's expert teams. Noteworthy discoveries include significant deposits of industrial minerals such as carbonates (Ouled Ali: 3,000,000 tons and Amskar: 16,000,000 tons), gold and copper deposits (Tachkacht: Cu 4%, Au 6-15 g/t), aragonite deposits (Tamlalaht Sefrou), azurite deposits (Taghbalt Mssissi), as well as deposits of fossiliferous marble, mica, feldspar, and kaolin in the Assa Zag Province.

The calcite deposit consists of veins formed by hydrothermal processes. The mineralization is composed of pure calcite, white in color, associated with massive carbonate rocks of the Lias series. Reserves are estimated at 12 million tons. This deposit is highly promising due to both its considerable reserves and the quality of the material it contains. It is a massive-type deposit, characterized by high-grade calcium carbonate, and ranks among the most significant white calcium carbonate deposits in Morocco. The potential mining resources of calcium carbonate are estimated at over 2,000,000 tons.
